Standing 110 floors over the skyline of Manhattan stood one of the worlds most enduring images. One of the prosperity and hope that exists in the land of the free. Overlooked by the harbour and Americas real first lady. The Statue of Liberty stands as a symbol of a new life, free from oppression, hunger and poverty millions of Europeans passed into the republic just a mile away at Ellis island. The huge swathe of immigrants might not have taken many belongings, but they did take what they held most dear, their faith in God. Although America today is in crisis, reports from many Christian organisations are telling of a sense of spiritual revival beginning in the land. Among the grief and collective sorrow Americans, and citizens of many other countries are finding their solace in God. From Hollywood stars on the television, to the mother posting a prayer request for her daughter, on the 104th floor of the World Trade Center on the internet, Americans are turning to God in their hour of need. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him. A passage quoted on the Gospelcom.net prayer request web site at the height of the crisis. Many are feeling concerned about the events which are occurring thinking that this may be the end times but the scriptures say. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief . The Heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. (2 Peter 3 v10). But we have nothing to fear if we know and love the Lord Jesus Christ because we have his assurance that before the end comes He Himself will come down from Heaven and raise the dead first and we who are still alive will be called up together with them to meet with the Lord in the air (1 Thessalonians 4 v16)
