Being brought up by keen Christian parents in Leicester, I had the opportunity to have the gospel both in the home and the church we all attended. At the age of 10 I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour and Lord; realising the choice had to be my own- I could not get to heaven through my parents' Salvation. On leaving School, I commenced an apprenticeship and progressed to works supervisor. In 1978 with a clear call from the Lord, I was led to leave my employment to be involved in full-time Christian work, which really was an extension of the active involvement I had in the church I was attending. Following an invitation from Emmaus Bible School U.K. to join the team at Eastham, I moved to Wirral in 1986 as Deputy Director of Emmaus, being responsible for the Prison Ministry, the setting up of a small printing department and deputation. In 1996, Michael Hemming, who was Director of Emmaus, left to take on a Pastoral role in his own church. I was offered the position of Director and have tried to fulfill my duties before God to the best of my ability. Over the fifteen years that I have been at Emmaus, I have seen the work change and expand; but the aim of Emmaus is still the same - to reach people of all ages with the gospel, and produce material to help them grow as Christians. As a charity this is a big responsibility, but with a team of six staff and volunteers, we work together as the Lord leads in this very important ministry. This year sees the 50th Anniversary of Emmaus U.K. Harold Catlow, in obedience to God, introduced the Correspondence courses in 1951. We thank and praise God for all His guidance and provision over the years, enabling thousands of people to have Bible Correspondence courses to help them to better understand the truths of the Bible and in their understanding to bring them closer to God. From 30th March - 1st April, 2001, we shall be celebrating our 50th Anniversary and trust that many will be able to join with us as we give God the glory and praise for all that He has done.
