Joyce

The day began as every other day but was to end like no other. It started with the usual routine of seeing husband off to work and getting the children washed ,dressed and fed. Then there was the washing, cleaning and ironing to do. It's quiet now that the children have gone down for their afternoon nap. Time for me to relax and think. I have a husband, two small children and an empty food cupboard. What was I going to do for the evening meal? Pay day isn't until tomorrow. I could go to the corner shop and get something on tick,(credit) but no, best not to get into that habit. I had been a Christian for just eight days. Staying with us at the time was a young man who had come to Manchester to help at the Billy Graham Crusade. We had also shown hospitality to others that week. With the extra mouths to feed the store cupboard had soon dwindled away. It was at the crusade that I had asked Jesus to be my Saviour. The children are still asleep. I opened the new bible that had been given to me and began to read Matthew's Gospel. I read the first five chapters but hardly took in the words. Still worrying about the evening meal I continue into chapter six and the words I read there made me sit up and take notice. Jesus is speaking. 'Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink.........your Heavenly Father knows that you need them.' I pondered these words and then began to pray, 'Father, I don't know how, but I trust you to help me now. ' The children began to stir and demand my attention. About an hour later there is a knock at the door. My Father had come to visit. 'What are you doing here, why are you not in work?'I asked. 'I've been to the Doctors, He said' as he handed me a bag of groceries!!!! 'And my God shall supply all your needs.' Philippians chapter 4 verse 19 Joyce. 3/12/2001
