Short days and long nights. Slowing down time to take a stare at a new year crackling in a log fire. Ice, snow and wind most mornings on the way to school, work or the Supermarket. Winter without Christmas. Flat batteries, de-icers, and soup coming into its own. A million snowballs thud in a million gales of child and student laughter. Amid January’s icy grip let’s take a look into one of Solomon’s amazing Proverbs. “Go to the ant...and be wise” Proverbs Chapter 6 verse 6 No better way to start a new year than a visit to Antshillvania. In an ant colony work is allocated and the guards would die for the guarded. Ants carry twice their own weight and they can’t be deterred or diverted. Present them with a problem and they’ll find a way around it. They gather summer and autumn harvest for their winter needs and, incidentally, when they have nothing to do they groom themselves! And this with no guide, and no ruler to give account to. Amazing, that man , created in the image of God, should have to be sent to the tiny ant for instruction. Be wise. Go there often.
