The Lords Day

The Lord created heaven and earth. The stars, the moon and sun. Six days worked He in making them, then rested when He’d done. In His own likeness us He made; by His Most Holy Hand. The flowers, the birds, all living things; according to His plan God rested on the seventh day; refresh Himself He would, then looked upon His finished work and saw that it was good. The Lord then blessed the seventh day and sanctified it too. Commanding all that on this day no work should any do. God understood the human frame and what it could withstand, that’s why He gave us six full days to toil and till the land. The seventh day He set apart for us to take a rest; Enabling us to regain strength to give Him of our best God made a law that all who worked upon the Sabbath Day, would suffer death for doing this, full penalty to pay. It only shows what fools men were to work when they could rest, they didn’t fully realise that the Lord’s way is best. Now we are under law no more but live in times of grace, for Jesus died upon the cross to save this human race. The Son of God lay in the tomb The Jewish Sabbath Day; then rose the first day of the week the Lord’s day now we say. Be careful Christian what you do upon God’s Holy day, a stumbling block you must not be to others by the way. If you should cause to give offence and make a brother fall, it is the Lord who feels the hurt be careful one and all.
